Cilley leads Norwich over Lyndon

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Devin Cilley threw a complete-game shutout to lead the Norwich University baseball team past Lyndon 6-0 in a non-conference game shortened by rain at Garrity Field. Cilley (1-0) went eight innings to earn the victory, scattering four hits while striking out eight and walking one.

He was masterful on the day, only allowing three base runners past second base and sending the Hornets down in order in the first, third and seventh innings.

Nicholas Gendron led the Norwich offense, going 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored. Joe Sleeman also went 2-for-4 for the Cadets, scoring once. Jonathan Philbrook and Charles Schaub each had an RBI in the two-run NU fourth inning.

Lyndon starter Skyler Bourque (Littleton, N.H.) took the loss as the Hornets fell to 2-12, giving up three runs on four hits over four innings of work. The lefthander struck out three and walked three. Mason Brewer (Wiscasset, Maine), Nick Gale (San Diego, Calif.), Billy Johnson (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and Jeremy Rocheleau (Cambridge, Vt.) had one hit each for the Hornets.
