LYNDON CENTER, Vt. - Tim Patten's goal with 12:07 remaining proved to be the game-winner as Lyndon edged Tufts 3-2 in American Collegiate Hockey Association action at the Fenton W. Chester Ice Arena Friday.
Tyler Eckhardt (Lyndonville, Vt.) gave the Hornets a 1-0 lead at the 13:17 mark of the first period with a goal that was assisted by Patten and Christian Henault (Barnet, Vt.). Demetrios Papathanasiou (Boxborough, Mass.) upped the lead to 2-0 five minutes later with a tally off an assist from Matt Drew (Newmarket, N.H.).
Tuft's Grant Zykowski cut the deficit to one in the first period with a goal with 2:23 remaining and knotted the score at 2-2 late in the second period with his second goal of the game.
That set the stage for Patten's heorics in the third period as he notched the decided goal, lift the Hornets to their fourth victory of the season.
Mario Viola (Nashua, N.H.) made 26 saves in the Lyndon goal while Ralph Faia stopped 33 shots for the Jumbos.
