LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Lyndon broke open a tie game with a 24-2 second-half run and cruised to an 88-59 victory over Green Mountain in North Atlantic Conference men's basketball action.
With the score tied at 42-42 at halftime, the Hornets offense, behind the three-point shooting of Ben Sackett (Lyndonville, Vt.) , took control of the game and propelled Lyndon to a second win in as many games.
Sackett, who was honored for scoring his 1,000th career point prior to the game, led the way with 19 points while Jason Gray (East Thetford, Vt.) added 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three blocked shots and three steals. Devyn Baranauskas (Waterbury, Conn.) collected 14 points, seven rebounds and three steals for the winners and John Williams (Springfield, Mass.) had 14 points to go with six rebounds.
Daquan Vaughan (Farmville, Va.) had 11 points and four assists off the bench for Lyndon, who improved to 2-13 overall and 2-7 in the NAC.
Carnelius Green had a game-high 20 points for the Eagles (3-9, 2-6) and teammate Kyle Middleton chipped in 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Jakerion Ales had 10 points in the loss and Peiton Woodall had three steals.
