LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Lyndon ran its North Atlantic Conference record to 7-3 with a hard-fought 74-68 victory over Castleton at Stannard Gymnasium.
The Hornets led 44-32 at halftime, but the Spartans (8-8, 6-3) managed to battle their way back to within four points with less than five minutes remaining. A huge three-pointer by Devyn Baranauskas (Waterbury, Conn.) and a few key free throws down the stretch sealed the win and sent Lyndon on to its eight victory of the season overall.
Baranauskas finished the contest with 20 points and Jason Gray (East Thetford, Vt.) chipped in 13 points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots. George Carle (Central Falls, R.I.) collected 10 points and eight rebounds while Jose Fortunato (Boston, Mass.) amassed 12 assists, 11 rebounds and five steals.
Mark Comstock had 20 points and three steals for Castleton and Logan White added 17 points, four assists and two assists. Rob Coloutti had 12 points and four steals for the Spartans and Dammy Mustapha had a team-high nine rebounds.
