LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Max Ercole, an attacker on the Lyndon men's lacrosse team, and Meghan Gadapee, a pitcher with the Hornet softball program, have been named Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, by the North Atlantic Conference.
Ercole had six goals Saturday to lead Lyndon to its first win of the season - a 16-6 victory over Green Mountain College at the Golden Goal Sports Park in Fort Ann, N.Y. The St. Johnsbury, Vt. resident collected three goals in the first quarter to propel the Hornets to a 6-1 advantage and tallied two more in the second quarter as Lyndon took a 12-2 lead into halftime.
Ercole closed out his scoring spree with a goal at the 12:55 mark of the fourth quarter. Thus far on the season, he has scored 10 goals and collected two assists for a total of 12 points. Ercole has taken 31 shots with 18 finding their way on goal for a shots-on-goal percentage of .581.
Gadapee raised her record to 3-0 on the season with a 4-2 extra-inning victory over Mitchell on Saturday, March 26 in the opener of the Hornets' scheduled doubleheader.
The freshman right-hander scattered allowed only two earned runs in the contest while striking out six and walking none. In the nightcap, Gadapee raised her batting average to .462 by pounding out three hits in a 14-13 setback to the Mariners.
Thus far on the season, Gadapee allowed 10 earned runs on 36 hits in 25 innings of work. The Littleton, N.H. native has struck out 16 opposing batters, walked only one and has an earned-run-average of 3.60.
