Lyndon falls in NAC Quarterfinals
CASTINE, Maine – Tom Houle collected seven points, propelling Maine Maritime Academy to a 22-3 win over Lyndon in a North Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse quarterfinal contest. With the loss, Lyndon ends its season at 2-9.
Tom Houle and Andrew DiSalvo led the Mariners with five goals each while Todd Murphy led the charge with four assists. Wade Mondoux collected three goals, while Murphy, Brian Corain and Chris Keiley each collected two goals. Alex Hermes, Nick Frizzle, Mark Keene each had single goals.
Maine Maritime led 4-1 after the first period, getting two goals from DiSalvo and one each from Keiley and Corain. Lyndon scored its only goal of the half with 3:31 left in the first on an unassisted goal by Mansour. MMA exploded for six second period goals led by three Houle markers and two DiSalvo goals to help push MMA to a 10-1 half time lead.
Maine Maritime scored eight goals in the third quarter capped off by three goals from Wade Mondoux. Tom Houle added two goals in the period while Hermes, Keiley, and Corain each added one apiece. The Mariners tacked on four more tallies in the fourth while Lyndon added two of their own to end the scoring at 22-3
Maine Maritime held a 48-19 advantage in the shot column and collected 36 ground balls to Lyndon's 14.
Erik Milles collected the win for the Mariners, making seven saves, while Matt Reynolds (New Fairfield, CT) took the loss for Lyndon.
