SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Shawn Fitzpatrick scored the game-winning goal to lead Western New England College to a 1-0 win over Lyndon in the first round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Championships at Suprenant Field.
Fitzpatrick notched his goal in the 70th minute to secure the victory. The Golden Bears controlled possession, holding a decided 27-5 advantage in shots and a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.
Lyndon State sophomore goalkeeper Jason Gray (East Thetford, Vt.) kept the visiting side in the game with 13 saves. Western New England College junior goalkeeper Sean Healey recorded one save to pick up the shutout win in net.
