LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Patrice Lumumba (Burlington, Vt.) scored one goal and collected two assists as Lyndon overcame a slow start to earn a 3-1 win over visiting Morrisville State.
Sanley Pierre-Louis gave the Mustangs a 1-0 lead at 6:44 when he settled a free ball chipped into the penalty area from midfield and deposited a shot into the lower left corner of the net.
The lead stood for just over seven minutes until Teague Coyle (Northfield, N.H.) took a pass from Lumumba a punched home a shot from 15 meters out to tie the score at 1-1. With less than 11 minutes left in the half, Shane O'Donnell-Leach (Groton, Vt.) tallied the game winning goal off an assist from Lumumba to up the Lyndon lead to 2-1 by halftime.
At the 59:03 mark of the second half, Lumumba scored his first goal of the season, with an assist going to Coyle, which ended the scoring in the game and sent the Hornets on to their first victory of the year.
Jason Marks (Newtown, Conn.) made four saves to earn the win while Shane Sullivan collected five in the loss.
