LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Castleton upped its record to 3-2-1 with a 3-1 North Atlantic Conference win over Lyndon.
The Hornets took a 1-0 lead 7:44 into the contest on a goal by Patrice Lumumba (Burlington, Vt./Democratic Republic of The Congo). Five minutes later, the Spartans managed to get back into the game with an own goal that knotted the score at 1-1.
Early in the second half, Castleton took the lead for good when Dameon Young found the mark off an assist from Spencer Dandurand and Vincent Addonisio sealed the win with an insurance goal off a feed for Young at the 84:35 mark.
Nate Koenemann made two saves to get the victory and Lyndon goalkeeper Jason Gray (East Thetford, Vt.) had 14 saves in the loss. The Spartans outshot the Hornets by a margin of 28-9.
