LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Jordan Hale's goal with 7:51 left to play was the difference as the University of Maine at Farmington earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Lyndon.
UMF jumped out to a 1-0 lead 1:05 into the contest on an unassisted goal by Luiz Ristow. The Beavers (3-3, 1-1) managed to up the advantage to two goals less than eight minutes later when Jake Constantine found the back of the net off an assist from Hale.
Lyndon cut the deficit to 2-1 at the 23:41 mark on a Lueth Lueth (Burlington, Vt.) unassisted tally and knotted the score at 2-2 early in the second half when Lueth scored again off an assist from Phil Curll (Camden, Maine).
The Hornets continued to hold the momentum as Curll gave them the lead for the first time in the game at 60:39 with an assists going to Tyler Powell (Essex Junction, Vt.). But Mike Kelly's goal, off a feed from Constantine, tied the contest at 3-3 six minutes later and set the stage for Hale's late-game heroics.
UMF goalkeeper Derek Reilly made the one-goal cushion stand, collecting four saves in the game. Lyndon goalie Jason Gray (East Thetford, Vt.) made eight saves in the loss, the Hornets' (3-5, 0-2) third straight.
