LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — The Lyndon men's soccer team improved to 2-3 in the North Atlantic Conference with a 2-0 victory over arch-rival Johnson State. With the win the Hornets upped their overall record to 3-8 while the Badgers fell to 1-12 overall and 0-5 in the NAC.
After a scoreless first half, Lueth Lueth (Burlington, Vt.) gave Lyndon the lead for good when he took a through ball from Patrice Lumumba (Burlington, Vt.) and drilled a shot into the lower right corner of the net. Less than four minutes later, Lumumba struck again setting up Yessi Gar-Elnabi (Burlington, vt.) for the final goal of the game.
Jason Gray (East Thetford, Vt.) and Jason Marks (Newtown, Conn.) combined to make two saves in the Hornet net and record the shutout while Johnson goalie Alex Pakatar had seven saves in the loss. Lyndon outshot Johnson by a margin of 23-4 and had five corner kicks to the Badgers' three.
