RUTLAND, Vt. - Castleton swept the season series from Lyndon with an 8-1 win over Lyndon at Norwich University's Shapiro Fieldhouse.
Justin Garritt defeated Lyndon's Michael Howard (Rocky Hill, Conn.) in top-flight singles match, winning 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 to lead the Spartans. Castleton cruised to the next four singles wins, dropping just six games along the way. Kevin Eisenberg, Calvin Henry, Willie Levine and Greg Klopfer all posted wins for Castleton in number two through four. The Hornets' lone win of the day came in No. 6 singles where Jonathan Lehane (Killingworth, Conn.) defeated Eric Slosek 1-6, 6-0, 6-3.
Eisenberg and Levine teamed in first-flight doubles for Castleton's first win of the afternoon, a 8-2 victory over Howard and Tyler Schofield (Middleboro, Mass.). Garritt and Slosek teamed to win second-flight doubles 8-1 over Jeremiah Powell (Concord, Vt.), while Klopfer and Henry won third-flight over Daniel Weiner (Wells, Maine) and Donald Jenness (Newport, Vt.).
Lyndon will closed out its regular season on Thursday, April 28 when it faces Johnson State. The Hornets and Badgers will play two matches in pro sets at Norwich University's Shapiro Fieldhouse. The first match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
