LYNDONVILLE, Vt. - Castleton defeated Lyndon 7-2 at the Dudley Bell Tennis Center to improve to 3-5 on the season overall. With the loss the Hornets fall to 1-3.
The Spartans' Stew Quinn defeated Lyndon's Armandoa D'Leon in the top-flight singles match, winning 7-6 (7-2), 6-1. The Hornets' Tyler Schofield topped Adam McCaffery 6-4, 6-2 in No. 2 singles before Castleton swept the next four singles matches. Matt Trombly, Jeremy Reppin, Mike Divis and Brian O'Neill all posted wins for Castleton in third through sixth singles.
Quinn and McCaffrey teamed in first-flight doubles for an 8-3 victory over D'Leon and John Corey. Schofield and Daniel Weiner joined forces to win second-flight doubles 8-3 over Trombly and Chris Belanger, while Divis and Corey Kimball won third-flight over Wildens Fils and Joe Anderson.
