CASTLETON, Vt. - Castleton upped its overall record to 7-5 with a 6-3 win over Lyndon. The loss drops the Hornets to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the North Atlantic Conference.
In doubles play, Stew Quinn and Adam McCaffery defeated Mike Howard (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and John Corey (Bennington, Vt.) 8-5 in the first flight and the Lyndon tandem of Tyler Schofield (Middleboro, Mass.) and Daniel Weiner (Wells, Maine) beat Chris Belanger and Matt Trombley 9-7 in second doubles.
Castleton's Corey Kimball and Mike Divis topped Mike Desmond (Enfield, Conn.) and Wildens Fils (Stamford, Conn.) 8-1 in the third flight to close out doubles play.
in singles action, Howard downed Quinn 6-0, 6-3 and Schofield recorded a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 win over McCaffery. In third flight singles, Trombley defeated Corey 6-1, 6-1 before Jeremy Reppin defeated Weiner 6-0, 6-1 in No. 4 singles play.
Divis beat Fils 6-0, 6-1 and Brian O'Neill turned back Desmond 6-4, 6-3 in fifth and sixth flight singles respectively.
