LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — The Lyndon men's and women's cross country programs have been named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association 2010 Division III Cross Country all-academic team.
The Hornets were the only cross country teams from the North Atlantic Conference to be named to the squad.
To qualify for a selection to the USTFCCCA all-academic team, a program must earn a cumulative team grade-point-average of 3.10 or better; and compile a score (finished at least five runners) at their respective NCAA regional championships.
The Lyndon men and women competed in the NCAA New England Regional Meet in Williamstown, Mass. on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010. The Hornet men placed 26th out of 50 teams in the event while the women came in 37th in a field of 51.
Academically, the Lyndon men's team posted a GPA of 3.13 while the women have earned a mark of 3.12.
"It is evident that these teams work as hard in the classrooms as they do putting in the miles and racing." said Head Coach Chris Ummer. "To my knowledge no teams have every won the NAC championships, the NAC sportsmanship awards and been named to the all-academic team in the same year. My hat is off to these outstanding student-athletes!"
