Powers named NAC & ECAC Runner of the Week

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. - Kyle Powers, a junior on the Lyndon men's cross country team, has been named both the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) and Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Runner of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Sept. 30.

This marks the second time in less than one month that a Lyndon runner has won both honors simultaneously. Senior Josh Grant earned both awards earlier this season on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Powers, a St. Johnsbury Academy graduate who resides in Waterford, Vt., placed second among 86 runners at the Vermont State Intercollegiate Championships held at Lyndon State College on Saturday Sept. 29.

He led the Hornets to a second-place finish in the nine-team field behind Middlebury College, who is currently ranked 12th nationally. Powers covered the wet, muddy, and hilly eight-kilometer Lyndon course in 28:29 the third fastest course time ever at the venue.
