LYNDON CENTER, Vt. - The second annual Lyndon Winter Softball Clinic will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21 and Sunday, Jan. 22. This is a comprehensive softball clinic that provides excellent instruction for all campers (ages 8 - 18) regardless of age or ability level.
Participants are shown how to become better softball players while they may have an enjoyable experience. The staff teaches skills and concepts, which the participants practice in hands-on drills and game situations.
Jennifer Layn, the Head Softball Coach at Lyndon State College, with be the clinic director. Coach Layn, a Lyndon State College alumnus, is currently beginning her sixth season at the helm of the Lady Hornet softball program. A standout student-athlete in her playing days at both Lyndon Institute and Lyndon State College, she excelled in both soccer and softball.
While attending LSC, Layn received numerous school, conference and national awards. She was named the school's Outstanding Female Student-Athlete three times, Sunrise Conference Player of the Year three times, was named to four All-Conference teams, received the LSC Student-Athlete Character Award and received NAIA All-American recognition. Layn was also the starting third baseman for the 2005 USA International Softball Athletic Team that toured in Sweden.
The clinic will be conducted at Lyndon State College' s Bole & Stannard Gymnasiums. Glove, clean dry sneakers (no dirt), catcher's gear (if needed), a bat, proper workout gear, helmet, and batting gloves (highly recommended). For more information contact Coach Layn at (802) 274-4382.
