FAIFAX, Vt. — Mary Gagne, a 2011 graduate of Lyndon, has been named Head Varsity Softball Coach at Bellows Free Academy-Fairfax. Gagne, a three-year starter with the Hornet softball program, will begin her tenure with the Lady Bullets in the upcoming season.

Over the past several years, Gagne has served in several capacities on the coaching staff of Vermont Thunder American Softball Association (ASA) program. She served as head coach of the Thunder 14 and under program before taking the reins of the program's 16 and under team two years ago.

In her collegiate days, Gagne led Lyndon to a berth in the 2008 United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship Tournament. That season she hit an impressive .372 with 32 hits, eight doubles, two home runs and 28 runs-batted-in. Her efforts earned her an Honorable Mention on the 2008 USCAA All-American team.

In 2009, her first season in NCAA play, Gagne hit .323 with 21 hits, five doubles, and 17 RBIs. After missing the 2010 season with a knee injury, she capped her Lyndon career in 2011 by hitting .338 with 24 hits, seven doubles, one home run and 16 RBIs.

Gagne received her Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management from Lyndon in May 2011. She currently resides in her hometown of Highgate, Vt.
