LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Freshman shortstop Jena Finnegan and sophomore pitcher Meghan Gadapee have been named Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, in the North Atlantic Conference for the period ending Sunday, March 12.
Finnegan, a 2011 graduate of AuSable Valley Central, burst onto the collegiate softball scene by leading the Hornets to four wins in 10 games at the Adirondack Sports Complex Dome in Glens Falls, N.Y. the week of Feb. 20-24.
The Keeseville, N.Y. resident swung the bat at a .424 clip in the week including 14 hits, one double, one home run and eight runs-batted-in. She also collected seven runs scored, 18 total bases, seven putouts, 26 assists and was 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts.
Gadapee, a Littleton High alum, earned three wins the week of as Lyndon embarked on a season-opening five-day, 10-game road trip. She allowed 13 earned runs on 41 hits while striking out 25 and walking only two.
The Littleton, N.H. native, who also tossed a one-hitter in an 8-0 win over Bay Path College on Wednesday, Feb. 22, hit .333 in the period with nine hits, one triple and five runs-batted-in.
