Panthers defeat Hornets

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Plymouth State improved to 7-13 overall with a doubleheader sweep of Lyndon at Skip Pound Field. The Panthers won the opener 14-2 and took the nightcap 12-3.

In Game 1, Calli DeGrace pounded out four hits, including three doubles, and Allie Luisi collected three hits and three runs-batted-in to propel Plymouth to victory. Jackie Digman, Sam Hebert and Cynthia Barata chipped in two hits each in support of Ali Keith, who went three and two-thirds innings to get the win.

She allowed two earned runs on five hits while striking out none and walking none.

Ashley Barski (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) had two hits for the Hornets and Meghan Gadapee (Littleton, N.H.) took the loss. She allowed six earned runs on 16 hits while fanning two and walking none.

In Game 2, Bekah Jackson had four hits, 2 RBIs and three runs scored as the Panthers pulled off the sweep of the twin bill. DeGrace, Luisi, Digman, Sam Herbert and Taylor Mancini had two hits each in the contest and Barata was credited with the win.

She allowed three earned runs on seven hits while striking out three and walking one.

Barski and Jillian Emery (Johnson, Vt.) had two hits for Lyndon (8-14) and Hanna White (West Newbury, Vt.) knocked in a pair of runs with an RBI single. Barski took the loss allowing 10 earned runs on 16 hits while fanning no one and walking three.
