LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Despite a frantic second-half comeback, Lyndon fell to Plymouth State 76-68 at Stannard Gymnasium.
The Hornets trailed 55-34 with 15:15 left to play before going on a 17-0 run that slashed the deficit to 55-51 with 8:32 remaining. But Plymouth managed to hit a few big shots down the stretch and hold Lyndon off long enough to record its seventh win of the season.
The Panthers were led by Amanda Kania, who scored 20 points and had 10 rebounds. Alicia Doucet added 13 points with six rebounds while Colleen O'Hara had 12 points and three steals. Plymouth's Sammie Walker finished with 11 points to go with seven rebounds.
Donna Lawson (Irasburg, Vt.) led the Hornets 34 points and 22 rebounds, both game highs, and Naomi White (Danville, Vt.) scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Shauna Buck (Newport Center, Vt.) had five steals and three assists in the loss.
