CASTINE, Maine - Maine Maritime ran past Lyndon State 81-52 in a North Atlantic Conference match-up at Margaret Chase Smith Gymnasium. The Mariners dished out 30 assists and scored 52 points in transition en route to th ir eight win of the season.
MMA jumped all over the Hornets in the first half and took a 25-point lead (45-20) into the break after shooting 52 percent in the first 20 minutes. The Mariners used trenacious defensive pressure throughout the course of the game, holding the Hornets to 30.2 percent shooting while forcing 23 turnovers. Maritime shot 46.5 percent from the floor and out rebounded Lyndon 49-34.
Samantha Goda led the offensive attack for the Mariners, scoring 15 points on 7-for-11 shooting. Goda also dished out three assists, collected three steals and gathered six rebounds. Maggie Smith scored 13 points while collecting five rebounds and five assists for MMA and Jess Stahl and Brittany Hunt each had 13 points for the Mariners. Katie Pushard, Casey McCloskey, and Leah Jackson all had a game-high six assists.
