PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Kellie Walsh scored a career-high 23 points to lead Plymouth State University to a 76-64 victory over Lyndon in a non-conference women's basketball match-up at Foley Gym.
Walsh made three three-pointers and sank 10-of-11 from the free throw line. Colleen O'Hara came off of the bench to add 13 points and Michaela Galvin added 10 points. Chelsea Watson (Eliot, Maine) sank 8-of-14 field goals to lead the Hornets with 22 points. Naomi White (Danville, Vt.) added 10 points.
Lyndon held the lead for the first five minutes of the game. PSU battled back to take a nine-point lead with seven minutes on the clock, but an offensive flurry by the visitors in the last two minutes of the half gave Lyndon a 31-29 advantage at halftime.
The Hornets maintained their lead for the first five minutes of the second half, but PSU went on a 28-3 run over a nine-minute span to pull away to a comfortable lead. The Hornets came alive in the final six minutes, outscoring the Panthers 20-11, but Plymouth State was able to hold off the rally and earn the win.
Both teams shot 61 percent from the free throw line, but Plymouth State had twice as many chances as Lyndon (36 to 18).
