Hornets rally past Eagles

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Lyndon erased a nine-point second-half deficit to record a hard-fought 72-64 win over Green Mountain College at Stannard Gymnasium.

The Hornets trailed 57-46 with 8:39 left to play, but managed to make up the difference and take the lead for good behind the stellar play of Donna Lawson (Irasburg, Vt.). The junior forward hit a few key hoops down the stretch to finish with 28 points, 18 rebounds, four blocked shots and five steals.

Chelsea Watson (Eliot, Maine) chipped in 15 points and three assists for Lyndon (5-9, 4-5) and Naomi White (Danville, Vt.) collected 11 points and eight rebounds.

Millicent Hopper led the Eagles with 17 points and 12 assists while Chelsea Paul added 15 points, four assists and two blocks. Sierra Pease had 16 points and two steals for Green Mountain (2-11, 0-8).
