NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's basketball team steadily pulled away and went on to defeat visiting Lyndon -53 in a non-conference matchup at the Tripp Athletic Center.
The Corsairs scored the first nine points of the game and went on to take a 35-23 halftime lead. UMD made 45.7 per cent of their shots in the first half, while holding Lyndon to 37 percent. UMass Dartmouth extended their lead after the intermission, building a 25-point advantage with 7:38 remaining.
Colleen Moriarty led the Corsairs in scoring, making nine of 13 shots from the field and finishing with 26 points. Erika Bornemann added 16 points, while Shannon Singletary scored 10. Donna Lawson (Irasburg, Vt.) led the Hornets with 17 points, while Emily Gray (Quincy, Mass.) added 15.
