Eagles Fly Past Hornets

BANGOR, Maine – After a long day of traveling, the Lyndon State College women's basketball team tipped off against Husson University Friday night in Newman Gym, dropping the contest 73-39.

Lyndon (4-15, 3-10 NAC) is right back in action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Maine Maritime for a 1:00 p.m. conference game.  Husson (14-5, 12-1 NAC) also returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they host Johnson State for a 1:00 p.m. conference game.

Husson took a 31-19 lead into halftime courtesy of eight points from Rebecca Young and five from Victoria McIntyre and Darla Morales.

The Eagles built up their lead to 24 points with 19 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, thanks in part to baskets by Chandler Guerrette and Kenzie Worcester, and Husson cruised the rest of way for the victory.

Mikayla Hodge (Newbury, Vt.) finished with eight points, and a game-high 13 rebounds for Lyndon State, while Samantha Thurston (Bath, N.H.) chipped in with seven points and four rebounds.

McIntyre finished with four assists, six rebounds and seven steals to go along with her 12 points, Guerrette tallied 11 points and a team-high five assists, while Worcester recorded 9 points, four assists and four steals. Denae Johnson added eight points while Anna MacKenzie added seven points and six rebounds off the bench for the Eagles.
