CASTLETON, Vt. – The Lyndon State College women's basketball team were defeated by North Atlantic Conference foe Castleton University Saturday afternoon, 80-48.

Mariah Ramos (Lebanon, N.H.) led the Hornets with 15 points while Mikayla Hodge (Newbury, Vt.), the leading scorer and rebounder in the NAC coming into the game, finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Lyndon took an early 7-2 lead before a jumper by Raiche and a three-pointer from Makayla Farrara tied the game at 7-7.  The Hornets retook the lead thanks to a layup by Hodge and two three-pointers from Alexis Britch (Essex Junction, Vt.), but a three-pointer by Lindsay Sabo with 1:31 left in the first quarter cut the Hornet lead to 15-13 after the first 10 minutes of the game.

A three and a layup from Raiche gave the Spartans their first lead of the game, but a trey from Gabrielle Foy (Wilton, Maine) tied it up at 18-18.  The Hornets were held to just seven points over the remaining eight minutes of the second quarter as the Spartans put up 23 points over that span to go into the break up 41-25.
