POULTNEY, Vt. – The Lyndon State College wrapped up the 2016-17 season with a 62-41 North Atlantic Conference victory at Green Mountain College Saturday afternoon. The Hornets finished the season 11-13 overall and 8-10 in the NAC.
Mikayla Hodge (Newbury, Vt.) was Lyndon's top scorer, posting 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting while also completing her 18th double-double performance of the season with 12 rebounds. Gabrielle Foy (Wilton, Maine) had 11 points while senior Marley Harmon (Buxton, Maine) dropped 10 points. Alissa Mitchell (Milton, N.H.) grabbed 11 boards in addition to her five points.
Green Mountain's (0-23, 0-18 NAC) Mercedes Rideout finished with 17 points, hitting on 5-of-11 from behind the arc and setting a new school record for made threes in one season with 62. Laney Trammell grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds on top of her five points, while Casie Sharp tallied 10 rebounds. Taylor Hill chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds.
Lyndon used the first two quarters to build up a 17-point advantage, outscoring the Eagles 13-6 in the opening period and then using an 18-8 second quarter score to create the 31-14 cushion.
Hodge carried the offensive load in the opening stanza for the Hornets with nine points. Suzanna Moses and Berlanda Dely each had three points for GMC.
Green Mountain stuck with Lyndon much better in the second half being outscored by just four points 31-27.
Gabrielle Roy finished the second half with seven points for the Hornets, while Rideout scored 11 in the second half.
