LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — The Smith College women's soccer team notched its second win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Lyndon.
Sarah Pedicini gave the Pioneers the lead for good when she took a through ball from teammate Eleanor Theurer and deposited into the upper right corner of the net over Hornet goalkeeper Samantha Smith (North Haverhill, N.H.).
Smith maintained its slim advantage into halftime and added an insurance goal at the 63:52 mark of the second half when Theurer drilled home the rebound of a Pedicini shot into the top of the net.
Smith goalie Lindsey Gregor and her defensive corps kept Lyndon at bay the entire afternoon, limiting the Hornets to a mere four shots in the contest. The Pioneers took 18 shots in the game, forcing Smith to make six saves.
