NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich women's soccer team defeated Lyndon 4-0 at Howard Field. The Cadets continue their winning streak, extending it to three games.
It was Brittany Casey who put the Cadets on the board at the start of the first half, tallying her 19th goal of the season. The goal was assisted by Lisa Esparza. Norwich put Lyndon at a two-goal deficit on an Esparza corner kick 16 minutes into the first frame. As the Hornet's defense came out to clear the box, the ball deflected off a Hornet defender and crossed the goal line, resulting in an own goal.
In the second half, the Cadets' Bianca Bogda fed Karissa Doyon for a goal less than two minutes into the second half. Doyon tallied her second goal of the contest when as she was set up by Stephanie Dorain in the 61st minute. Dorain served a lifted ball across the goal to Doyon who was able to connect with the header for the fourth and final goal of the game.
Norwich goalkeeper Alecia Wright made four saves as the Hornets recorded five shots in 90 minutes. For Lyndon, goalie Samantha Smith (North Haverhill, N.H.) set aside 12 shots on goal, while Norwich earned a total of 30 shots in the contest.
