BROOKLINE, Mass. - The Newbury College women's soccer team handed non-conference Lyndon itsr first loss of the season defeating the Hornets by a score of 2-0. Rachel Wyszynski kept the Hornets off the scoreboard, tallying 11 saves in the Nighthawks second victory of the season.
Lyndon enter the match-up with a perfect 4-0 record and were coming off a 1-0 win against New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) rival Regis College on Sunday. Ashleigh Guy gave the Nighthawks the early lead five minutes and change into the contest. Jasmine James connected with her classmate, who was 18 yards out, for the first score of the contest.
Briana Tomaselli added an insurance goal midway through the period on a penalty kick but it was all the Nighthawks need as the Hornet were unable to get anything past the Wyszynski. Despite the loss, Tia Billado (Bellows Falls, Vt.) kept the Hornets within striking distance with seven saves in goal.
