POULTNEY, Vt. – The Green Mountain women's soccer team upended Lyndon by a score of 1-0 in North Atlantic Conference action.
The game opened with the Hornets managing to control the ball in the early stages of the game, frustrating the Eagle attack. Shots were evenly distributed between the two squads, but neither side was able to convert on any chances, ending the opening half in a 0-0 draw.
The second half saw a more determined Eagles team create several quality scoring chances, but Hornet goal keeper, Adele Zeh (Nunda, N.Y.), kept the Eagles off the scoreboard. On the other end, Green Mountain goalkeeper Emma Lord provided a stellar effort in thwarting the Hornets from scoring.
The score remained tied at 0-0 until late in the game when Erin Burch fired a shot off the right goal post. The ball ricocheted back in front of the net where Emma Christian neatly deposited the rebound into the back of the Hornet net for the game's lone goal.
With four saves, Lord earns her third victory on the year, while Zeh takes the loss for the Hornets despite making three saves.
