LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Kayla Flynn, a freshman on the Lyndon women's tennis team, has been named the North Eastern Athletic Conference Eastern Division Rookie of the Year. The selection was made earlier this week in a polling of head coaches within the NEAC East.
Flynn, a resident of Johnston, R.I. who majors in Atmospheric Sciences at Lyndon, had an overall record of 6-4 in singles action, playing from the second to fourth flights. Her performance also netted her an All-NEAC East Singles First-Team selection and she was the lone freshman to earn the post-season honor.
In doubles action, Flynn earned a mark of 8-2, including a record of 6-2 with sophomore teammate Maria Parr. For their collective efforts, Flynn and Parr were named to the All-NEAC East Doubles First-Team.
Joining Flynn on the All-NEAC East Singles First-Team is Lyndon senior Jenn Falsetti, who came back to the program after a one-year layoff. The Albany, N.Y. native and Electronic Journalism Arts major, amassed a singles record of 3-7 overall in the first and second flights, and had a mark of 4-6 in doubles play.
Lyndon completed its season with an overall record of 5-6 and a mark of 3-2 in the NEAC East. The Hornets fell to Castleton in the division finals by a score of 8-1.
