PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Lyndon State College women's tennis team continued non-conference play Sunday afternoon with a 9-0 loss at Plattsburgh State University.
The Hornets had a tough start with the pairings of Carina Alden (Marlborough, Mass.) with Nichole Jones (Lisbon Falls, Maine), and Hayley Bouley (Holliston, Mass.) with Samantha Fisher (Brattleboro, Vt.) falling 8-0 in their matches. Alexa Richard (Haverhill, Mass.) and Phoebe Achinda (Hinesburg, Vt.) dropped the second flight by a score of 8-2.
In flights two through six, Plattsburgh continued their strong play by sweeping each match up 6-0, 6-0. Jones fell to Plattsburgh's Kaitlyn Healy in the top flight but was refused to go down scoreless in the 6-1, 6-0 loss.
After the loss head coach Laura Laramee was positive about the play at the top spot by Jones.
"Nichole has been playing amazingly well at the number one, competing and challenging her opponent every time," she expressed.
The Hornets (0-2, 0-0 NAC) return to the court Wednesday when they travel to Johnson for a 3:30 p.m. start time.
