Salvadore breaks her own Javelin record in 5th place finish at NCAA New England Regionals

Cambridge, MA - Lyndon State College women's track and field athlete Abby Salvadore (Portsmouth, NH) finished in fifth place in Javelin at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championshp meet, held Saturday afternoon at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  Salvadore broke her own school record and personal best with a throw of 40.50 meters.

Salvadore's fifth place finish earned her All-New England honors.  She also became the first Lyndon track and field athlete, male or female, to score in an NCAA Regional meet.  Cathryn MacGregor of Wheaton College won the event with a throw of 43.32 meters, while host MIT captured the team championship.

Hornet head coach Hayden Bunnell remarked "Abby threw well today, and her arm was not feeling 100% either.  The goal for her today was to get All-New England, which is top 8.  Definitely the goal for her next year is to make a run at Nationals.  She had a great season and hopefully we can build on that for next year."
