Hornets fall to Husson, Maritime in season finale

CASTINE, Maine - The Lyndon women's volleyball team closed out iots 2010 season with 3-0 losses to Husson University and Maine Maritime Academy in North Atlantic Conference matches at Maritime's Margaret Smith Gymnasium. The Hornets end their season at 3-17 overall and 0-6 in the NAC.

In the second match of the day, Husson beat Lyndon 25-11, 25-11, and 25-9. Hannah Olstad led the Eagles with 12 kills and six aces while Michelle Smith chipped in with five kills. Aleta Johnson collected a team high 17 assists and has six aces.

Christine Bailey (Lyndonville, Vt.) led the Hornets with four kills and Maegan Fried (Great Falls, Mont.) chipped in with seven digs.

The final match of the afternoon had Maine Maritime up against the Hornets. MMA won the match 25-7, 25-5, and 25-1). Chelsea Ward paced the Mariners with 13 kills on 16 attacks while Melissa Lail and Heather Moore each finished with five. Dixon once again led the Lady Mariner attack with 23 assists and had a career high 10 aces.

Fried had two kills to lead Lyndon and Jaclyn Brett (Weymouth, Mass. ) added two assists and two service aces.
