STANDISH, Maine – Tournament champion Saint Joseph's defeated Lyndon 3-0 (25-7, 25-11, 25-10) to opened the second and final day of the annual Autumn Invitational volleyball tournament. For Lyndon, Maegan Fried (Great Falls, Mont.) posted six kills and Taylor Young (Lowell, Mass.) contributed nine assists and eight digs in a losing effort.
In the tourney's consolation game, Wentworth beat Lyndon 3-0 (25-6, 25-8, 25-5) for a second straight day. Fried and Morgan Diltz (Moultonboro, N.H.) had two kills each and Young chipped in five assists.
On Friday, Husson University downed Lyndon State 3-0 (25-9, 25-9, 25-21) to open the tournament. Fried played well in a losing effort, collecting three kills, three digs and a block. The Hornets ended the day with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-14) loss to Wentworth. Fried recorded five kills while Young and Ariel Wright (Belmont, N.H.) tallied a pair of aces apiece.
