LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Husson University recorded a 3-0 match victory over Lyndon in the Hornets' season finale. The match was the first of four on the afternoon at Stannard Gymnasium. The Eagles won the match by set scores of 25-14, 25-7 and 25-8.
Hannah Olstad and Chelly Smith led Husson with nine kills each and Olstad added a game-high four blocks. Smith chipped in seven digs, Aleta Johnson had 17 assists and Kelsey Burrill collected five service aces.
Joy Piper (Belmont, N.H.) led Lyndon with three kills and Taylor Young (Lowell, Mass.) had a team-high four assists. Maegan Fried (Great Fals, Mont.) had six digs for in the loss while Piper, Morgan Diltz (Moultonboro, N.H.) and Ariel Wright (Belmont, N.H.) had five each. Jaclyn Brett (Weymouth, Mass.) had two aces to lead Lyndon.
In the second match of the day for the Hornets, Maine Maritime earned its 20th win of the season with a 3-0 victory. The Mariners reached the milestone by set scores of 25-3, 25-11 and 25-9.
Sydney Robertson had eight kills to lead Maritime; Chelsea Ward added seven and the tandem of Chantal Adderley and Melissa Lail had six each. Jennifer Dixon had 21 assists and six service aces in the match, while Ward and Adderley chipped in five aces each.
Kayla Cormier (Belmont, N.H.), Fried and Diltz had two kills each for the Hornets while Brett and Young handed out three assists each. Piper had two blocks for Lyndon, who ends its regular season with a record of 6-14 overall and 3-4 in league play.
