BANGOR, Maine - The Husson women's volleyball team had the offense rolling on all cylinders in their North Atlantic Conference quarterfinal match in Newman Gymnasium. The Eagles won 3-0 over Lyndon, winning the first game 25-11, the second 25-15, and then closing out the match with a 25-6 victory.
With the win, the Eagles advance to the semifinals, while the Hornets finish their 2011 season with a 6-15 record overall and a mark of 3-4 in the NAC.
The Eagles were led by Kelsy Burrill who scored an impressive 11 aces to o along with her five kills. Chelly Smith led Husson with seven kills, while Aleta Johnson added five aces to her 19 assists on the day. Rachel Voicechovski had six digs in defense for the Eagles.
Hornet outside hitter Maegan Fried (Great Falls, Mont.) led the visitors in nearly every statistical category, adding three kills and two aces - both to lead the team - while Morgan Diltz (Moultonboro, N.H.) had five digs to go with her pair of aces.
