Norwich women shut out Lyndon
NORTHFIELD, Vt. — MaryRose Meany totaled nine kills to lead the Norwich University Cadets to a 3-0 win against Lyndon in non-conference action. With the win, the Cadets improve to 8-10 overall, while the loss drops the visiting Hornets to 2-13.
After posting 25-14 and 25-16 wins in games one and two, Gabrielle Miller opened the third game by serving ten-straight points to take an early 10-1 lead. Jennette Chartrand followed by serving four-straight points of her own to give the Cadets the solid 16-2 lead en route to the 25-8 win.
In addition to Meany, the Norwich offensive was led by Kelsey Mancini, who totaled six kills, and Haley Vermes and Tara Lyons, who contributed four kills apiece. Miller recorded match-highs in assists with 18 and service aces with six, while Alex Palmer posted a team-best six digs.
The Hornets offense was sparked by Taylor Young's (Lowell, Mass.) three kills. Morgan Diltz (Moultonboro, N.H.) posted a match-high seven digs for Lyndon, while Laura Drake (Hinsdale, N.H.) totaled four service aces and posted team-high five assists.
Norwich totaled 28 kills in the win and posted a .221 attack percentage while holding the visiting Hornets to just nine kills and a negative attack percentage.
