JOHNSON, Vt. – Johnson State College hosted a North Atlantic Conference quad-match featuring Lyndon, Castleton State College and Green Mountain College. The Hornets lost two matches at the event and are now 2-16 overall and 0-4 in the NAC.
Castleton 3, Lyndon 0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-19)
In match two of the day Castleton piled up 31 kills led by Grace Schreiber and her 11 kills while freshman Bridget McCarthy dealt out a whopping 23 assists to go with 11 digs to key a 3-0 win.
The Spartans strong defense allowed only five service aces for Lyndon while also piling up 51 digs.
Green Mountain 3, Lyndon 2 (28-30, 27-25, 15-25, 25-11, 15-12)
In the day's most entertaining match, Green Mountain came back from down one set to none, two sets to one, and after trailing 6-0 in the fifth and final set to earn a tough 3-2 win over Lyndon.
Despite 29 attack errors to nearly match their 30 kills, the Eagles defense picked up 54 digs and service game accounted for 29 aces to help key the victory.
Jennifer Seredejko was the floor leader for GMC as the junior had 23 assists to go with five service aces, three digs, and two kills. Megan Roy had a team-high 12 kills while Egan and Wage both had seven.
Lyndon saw Diltz record team-highs of nine kills and 12 digs while Drake had 10 assists and six digs. Ponte had another fine all-around match with six kills, six service aces, and five digs.
