Hornet Associate Athletic Director Kate Roy assumes NCAA leadership position

Lyndonville, VT - Lyndon State College Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator Kate Roy has been elected Vice Chair of the NCAA Division III Management Council.  Roy assumed her position following the annual NCAA Meetings, held in Indianapolis in January.

The Management Council consists of 19 members and meets periodically, both in person and via conference call.  The Council is charged, among other duties, with interpreting Division III rules and resolving issues, recommending legislation, and implementing policies adopted by the Presidents Council.  Roy's term as Vice Chair is for one year, and her term as a member of the Council will run through January of 2020.

Roy said this regarding her position:  "Serving the membership as a member of the Management Council is an incredible honor, and being elected vice chair by my colleagues on the council is quite special. I look forward to the year ahead as we endeavor to provide the best possible experience for Division III student-athletes, coaches, administrators and fans."

Hornet Athletic Director Christopher Ummer had this to say about Roy's election:  "Kate will provide the committee with excellent guidance. She is ideal for this position. Lyndon is fortunate to have her."

At January's NCAA Convention Roy was also featured on the College Sports Insider with Jack Ford podcast.  On the podcast Roy spoke at length on her experiences and the role of a Senior Woman Administrator.  The podcast can be found HERE.

Roy came to Lyndon in August of 2014.  As Associate Athletic Director, she manages compliance and business operations of the Hornet athletic department.  She also serves as advisor to the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and as the College's Title IX Coordinator.  In addition, she is an instructor in the Sport Management program and served as advisor to the Sport Management Club.

Prior to her arrival at Lyndon, Roy served as the Head Swimming Coach at the University of New England.  While at UNE she also served in various administrative capacities and taught in the Sport Management program.

Roy is a 2000 graduate of Virginia Tech, and earned a Masters in Sports and Recreation Management from New England College in 2010.
