Lyndonville, VT - Many Lyndon State College Hornet alumni returned to campus over the past weekend to take part in the first Homecoming & Family Weekend as Northern Vermont University-Lyndon. Hornet athletics played a prominent role in the weekend, as the Athletics Hall of Fame Induction and numerous Alumni Games were among the highlighted activities.
Friday evening's Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Banquet kicked off the weekend. Jamie Eaton '99, Brian Gallagher '91, Joshua Grant '13, and Susan Howe Wood '76 were this year's inductees.
The Cross Country Alumni run opened up festivities on Saturday morning. The run was followed by a retirement gathering to honor Head Cross Country Coach Chris Ummer, who retired as athletic director at Lyndon in May. The Men's Lacrosse Alumni Game also took place Saturday morning. Current Hornets also got into the action, as both the men's and women's soccer teams defeated North Atlantic Conference rival University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday afternoon. Sunday featured the Alumni Men's and Women's Soccer Games, along with the Alumni Baseball and Softball Games.
The entire Lyndon athletic department thanks all Hornet alumni who made it back to campus over the weekend and hopes to see everyone again soon.
