Lyndon State College SAAC teams with Caledonia County Special Olympics in the inaugural year for Lyndon State as an official Special Olympics College
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Campus Activities Board (CAB) held a “Spread the word to End The Word” campaign on campus March 4-6, 2015. Representatives from both student organizations staffed tables across campus to hand out buttons and bracelets, and gather signatures on a pledge to stop using the R word.
The Spread The Word to End The Word campaign led into a partnership with the Caledonia County chapter of Special Olympics Vermont. Student-athletes spent six weeks in March-April, 2015 participating as coaches and partners with the Caledonia County basketball team. In addition to the weekly practice sessions, Lyndon State student-athletes served as coaches and partners at three tournaments throughout the spring, culminating in the Vermont State Games held at the University of Vermont in late April.
