Hornets Have Tough Day on the Diamond Against Crusaders

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Lyndon State College baseball team dropped two games to Capital University Thursday afternoon, 9-0 and 7-0, at Lake Myrtle Park.

Game 1

Devon Rollins led the Hornets at the plate going 3-for-3 with a stolen base.  Michael Pena and Zach Hale knocked a hit each.  

Jake Foley, Logan Bastin, Alexander Smith, and Beau Otto each collected two hits with Bastin scoring twice and Smith batting in two for the Crusaders.

Tyler Davis took the loss for the Hornets in 3.2 innings of work.

Gabe Morris gave up five hits in the win for the Crusaders.

Game 2

Freshman Jake Perkins went 2-for-2 at the plate to pace the Hornets in the second game.  Devon Rollins, Codi Smith, and Jason Doris each recorded one hit.

Logan Bastin knocked a double, drove in two runs, and scored twice for the Crusaders.  Tyler Cetnarowski went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one run.

Ben Rollins took the loss in his first start of 2017, throwing 3.1 and striking out five.

Brett Colburn recorded the win while giving up five hits in five innings of work.

The Hornets drop to 2-3 and have Friday off before taking on Penn. St.- Altoona on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 9:30 a.m.

The Crusaders improve to 6-1 on the year.
