Lyndonville, VT - Levi Haviland, a 6'5" forward from Poultney High School in Poultney, VT, has committed to Northern Vermont University-Lyndon's men's basketball program for the Fall 2019 semester. Haviland, the Hornets' first recruit to commit and deposit for fall, will major in Applied Psychology and Human Services at Lyndon.
Haviland is in his third varsity season at Poultney. His Blue Devils team is currently ranked #2 in Vermont's Division 4, and leading the Marble Valley League D Division. A year ago Poultney captured the MVL championship and advanced to the Vermont state semi-finals. Haviland is averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds per game this season and is shooting over 50% from the floor and over 70% from the free throw line.
Lyndon head coach David Pasiak had these comments about Haviland: "I'm very excited that Levi has decided to continue his education and be a part of what we are building at Lyndon. He is a terriffic young man that will be a great addition to our program. He is just scratching the surface of his potential, and I'm really looking forward to working with him as he continues to develop."
Haviland's coach at Poultney, Bob Coloutti, added "Levi has a great work ethic and loves to be in the gym. He understands he is a student first and athlete second, but is very good at managing his time at both. He is very coachable and a great teammate. I believe that Levi's best days are ahead of him and I look forward to seeing his growth at the college level."
The Hornets expect to announce additional Fall 2019 commitments in the near future.
