Lyndonville, VT - Josh Rivers, a 6'3" forward from North Country Union High School in Newport, VT, has deposited and committed to Northern Vermont University-Lyndon's men's basketball program for the Fall 2019 semester. Rivers will begin as an Explorations major at Lyndon.
Rivers was a key contributor for a North Country team that was one of the most improved teams in Vermont's Division 1 this past season. He averaged 10.3 points and 8.7 rebounds for the Falcons, who reached the Division 1 quarter-finals for the first time in several seasons.
Lyndon head coach David Pasiak had these comments about Rivers: "Josh made a big leap forward in his game this past season. That said, he still has a lot of untapped potential that he's working to develop. I'm excited that he's joining our program and believe that he will become a very good player at our level."
North Country head coach John Gunn added these thoughts: "Josh is one of the better rebounders to come through North Country Union High School over the last decade. He has a very explosive second jump that made him a tremendous offensive rebounding threat. Josh was always the double-double threat the opposing teams had to game plan for when playing North Countryl. Josh showed on a nightly basis that he could offensively take over the game, creating matchup problems for the other team."
Rivers joins Levi Haviland of Poultney, VT in NVU-Lyndon's 2019 recruiting class. The Hornets expect to announce additional Fall 2019 commitments in the near future.
