Hornets drop non-conference contest at Emerson

Boston, MA - The Lyndon State College men's lacrosse team dropped a 7-4 non-conference decision at Emerson College on Saturday afternoon.  The loss drops the Hornets to 1-2 on the season while the Lions improve to 2-0.

Emerson's Jared Brush (Grosse Pointe Park, MI) scored the only goal of the first quarter, finding the net on a feed from Tim Doyle with 4:20 to go in the period.

Lyndon evend things up 3:26 into the second quarter when James Ceglia (Oyster Bay, NY) scored unassisted.  The Lions moved back in front less than a minute later when Stevie Powers scored with an assist from Cameron Radenburg (Los Angeles, CA).  That lead was short lived, as Spencer Aubin (Sharon, MA) picked up an unassisted goal just 27 seconds later.  Brush then scored for the second time with 9:05 to go to give Emerson the lead back, and Powers again scored off of a feed from Radenburg to send the Lions into halftime with a 4-2 advantage.

Radenburg scored an unassisted man down goal less than two minuted into the third quarter to extend their lead to 5-2.  That would prove to be the only goal of the period.

The Lions scored another man down goal, this time from Joe Myers on Radenburg's third assist of the day, and led 6-2 with 12:50 left in the game.  Lyndon responded with a pair of goals, one from Shea Jones (Hull, MA) unassisted, and one from Aubin off of an assist from Jones, and the Emerson lead was down to two goals with 5:47 left.  Brush's third goal of the game, this time from Powers, snuffed out the Hornet comeback effort and proved to be the game's last tally.

Emerson outshot Lyndon 55-28 on the afternoon.  Hornet goalie Marcus Bessette (Pembroke, NH) stopped 19 of 26 shots on goal while his Lion counterpart, Bailey Kennedy (Swampscott, MA) recorded 12 saves on 16 shots on goal.  The Lions held a 51-31 advantage in ground balls and won 12 of 15 faceoffs.

The Hornets return to action on Monday at 4:00 pm at Becker College in another non-conference game.  Emerson is at Albertus Magnus College on Monday.
