Hornets unable to generate offense in season opening loss at Norwich

Northfield, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's soccer team couldn't get anything going on offense and came up on the short end of a 4-0 result in Saturday's season opening contest.

At the 8:47 mark the Cadets' Nick Tantillo converted a pass from Amerlin Nemeye for the only goal of the opening half.  The score stayed at 1-0 until the 65th minute, when Matt Bento scored with an assist from Andre Rodriguez.  Bento found Nemeye a little over eight minutes later, and the Hornets scored an own goal a few seconds after that to account for the final margin.

Hornet goalkeepers Caleb Derbyshire (Barton, VT) and Dennis Farnham III (Orono, ME) had a busy evening in goal.  Derbyshire stopped 15 of 19 shots on goal and Farnham stopped both shots that he faced.  Norwich goalkeeper Brendan Germano didn't face a shot on goal en route to the clean sheet.  The Cadets outshot the Hornets, 38-3, over the full match.

Lyndon returns to action on Tuesday evening, when they travel to Castleton University for a 7:00 pm start.
