Hassan and Nelson garner NAC soccer honors

Waterville, ME - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's soccer players Abukar Hassan (South Burlington, VT) and Jacob Nelson (Guildhall, VT) have been recognized for their accomplishments this season.  Hassan, a senior midfielder, was named to the All-Conference Second Team, while Nelson, also a senior midfielder, was named to the NAC Sportsmanship Team.

Hassan played in and started 12 games this season.  He scored one goal, giving him nine career goals as a Hornet.  He also has three career assists.  Hassan recorded 16 shots this season, with eight being on goal.  He was a NAC Sportsmanship Team selection in 2017.

Nelson played in all 15 games, starting 13 times.  Selection to the Sportsmanship Team is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees are individuals who have positively affected the soccer culture and environment and whose behavior clearly demonstrates sportsmanship and integrity that go beyond the playing rules and etiquette.

The Hornets finished the 2018 campaign with a 1-14 overall record including a 1-6 mark in NAC play.
